Which primer manufacture is the hardest?

I have a pistol that has marginal ignition. Only Federal will fire 100%. The Russian primers are the worst. Only 2 of 10 will fire.

So Russian primers would be your best bet, other than the #34s.

If it is just for hunting ammo, pull the FMJ and seat a soft point.
 
I am by no means the expert but I would say in order of hardness for 7.62 size primer 1) CCI Nato 034, 2) Remington, 3) Winchester and softest would be Federal. i think that a lot of the Camp Perry service Rifle competitors go with Remington when they cannot get there hands on Mil Spec. CCI's. Those are really the guys in the KNOW when it comes to the right primer. But every one of them will probably tell you that the most important thing with the semi autos is religious monitoring of primer seating depth when reloading.

Primers recommended for use in .308 Win/7.62x51/7.62x39 semiautomatic rifle loads:

CCI #34, 200, BR2, CCI 250
Winchester WLR, WLRM
Wolf/Tula LR

NOTE, high primers not seated correctly are the biggest cause of slam fires, below American military 7.62 chamber and case drawing showing the primer is to be recessed .008 below the surface of the case.

If I remember correctly, the CCI #34 (and the small rifle equivalents) are the ballistic equivalents to the magnum rifle primers. If so, it would be worthwhile to make sure you follow prudent reloading practices: Start low, and work your way up, wathing for signs of excess pressure.

BTW, I've had good results from CCI and their "Contact Us" link on their web page.

i find that dominion primers are inconsistent with their hardness. most are fine but i get quite a few where the firing pin barely even leaves a mark and i have to put the cartridge in the duds bin.

Both Winchester and CCI make military grade primers which are the hardest. So far I have never had any issues with my Chinese SKS with regular primers , lucky I guess.
