I just got a new XD and I'm liking it. I'm thinking about setting it up for Production and I'd like to know what people are using for holsters. I'm thinking Blade Tech but I'd others opinions. TC

You can use any race type holster in IPSC production in Canada. Many people use CR Speed. Blade-tech makes great stuff, and they're still offering their 'competiton special' which IMO is a great deal.

bladetech DOH (dropped and offset holster) - top of the line for 99% of the shooters, only the really top layer of shooters can take advantage of the extra 0.1s you can shave off with a speed holster (which costs $100+ more).

Keep in mind that there is discussion to disallow the DOH type holsters in Production Division in the US should your interests take you into competing in the US.

well worst case you just unbolt the spacer in the middle and it turns into a normal holster. if you don't feel like buying something else for the US.

I likely won't be competing in the US, heck I barely have time to compete here. I have a CR Speed for my 1911 and I like it but I'll look into the Blade Tech for the XD. Thanks for the help. TC

Blackhawk Serpa is a good choice

Just got my XD tactical and a Blackhawk Serpa Holster.

I was surprised how easy it was to draw from this holster.

It will also work for USPSA Production if they decide on banning DOH.

I think five of us now have Blade Tech holsters for our IDPA shoots. Come on out on Wednesday at our skills and drills night and try out mine or Ted's. The nice thing about Blade Tech is you can switch from the offsett for IPSC or go back to the regular belt style for IDPA. I odered mine direct from the company.

My experience wsith them was my 1911 holster was off the shelf while my Tanfoglio was a four week wait.

The holsters are very fast to draw from and quite competitive at our level of incompetance. Dave has a Blackhawk and it certainly will do the job as well.

Forget what my shipping was but it sure was $42.00US, more like $8.00 if I remember correctly.

Take Care

Bob
