Which provinces require guns to be encased?

Only if you have the firearm outside as in a hunting area. not required if the firearm is in a car or truck

I’m not sure you are correct. I can find no mention in the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act that makes an exception for firearms in a car or truck. The act states it is unlawful outside of legal hunting times to “have a firearm in the person’s possession in an area usually inhabited by wildlife, unless the firearm is unloaded and encased”.

While that’s true, it also doesn’t make an exception for in a cabin, tent, or trailer while in “an area usually inhabited by wildlife”. Yet obviously one can uncase their firearm inside to clean it etc. My take is that a car, truck, cabin or tent IS encasing the firearm on all 6 sides.

Heck, loaded firearm in a vehicle will get you a 120$ fine from 'Fish & Feather' in AB..."shyte, got that in the ashtray in change, Do-rite"
Respect means I don't tip the ashtray into your hands and say..."Keep the change"

I know Ontario requires guns to be encased on 6 sides 30+ minutes before sunrise, and 30+ minutes after sunset when hunting. Before I slog through the regs for all provinces and territories, can anyone tell me if they know of any others with similar requirements?

Thx

I’m very glad Alberta doesn’t have a silly rule like that. I always have a firearm on my shoulder getting my game out even when it takes me to well after dark, and around camp all night.
