Any new pump action will be fine. Pick the one you like best. More important is how you gonna load it!!! 2 slugs followed by buck shot, and if that doesn't work make the last one bird shot cause it won't matter by then!
Hey now, in the new future he can be shopping for another gun to add to the collection. I like the "mission creep" approach to gun collecting.lol... so if I understand you, an 870 or Dominion Arms 870 copy is "not for you" for bear defence, but a lowest-possible tier single shot IS for you?
I'm sure you will enjoy your new gun in many great ways, but I would NEVER carry that gun for bear defence unless it was my last option. Why trust your life and the lives of those with you to a $150 gun that only has one round in it?
You're the first person in years that I've heard say they've seen multiple catastrophic failures in Grizzly shotguns. Sorry, but I don't buy it.My buddy has this gun. I've shot it many times. It's a hell of alot better than dominion arms. It's not Chinese crap. I know many people that had the grizzly and they failed. Cracked receivers and barrels.
Down the road I may buy a pump but not right now
It's been a few years but last year my buddy sell it all the gun shows in BC and they had 15 of them that they were selling for parts because they all had Cracked Barrels and receivers.
I actually just pulled the trigger on this gun as well

Make sure you put a bunch of test rounds through it first because the new Remington Express' arent the best made gun. (Ensure it cycles, ejects and feeds dependably before trusting your life with it, because they are known to act up) Ironically, the latest Chinese clones often preform better than the new Express...
They were dominion arms. They said it right on the reciever
