Which range in KW area?

Wow, this is some fascinating information; I grew up around there.

Yep, the range where I'm at is in a mch better situation all around ($100 membership, all-access, 200 yd multipurpose range, pistol range, archery range, trap and skeet range, clubhouse, rangehouse, lots of parking, daypasses for your friends (10$), residential caretaker, no waiting on the membership, no background check) but one thing that locals ##### about are the rules. It's known derisorily as 'that range with all the rules'; well I'll tell ya...

All other ranges are far away or all booked up. The amenities a quite good for the price, so this I'll keep in mind when I hear someone #####ing about all the rules at my Association, aka the Malahat.

(one of these 'problematic' rules is no more than 3 shots a second; what's the problem with that, really?) :dancingbanana:

(just had to back out there and review my post; love these iPhones, but posting can be trying...!)

Again, wow. I feel for you folks in the KW area. Good luck on the Galt membership's efforts to lift the cap some.

Todd Jarrett would have trouble firing three shots in one second.

Are you sure it's not "no more than one shot in three seconds"?

Colby is your best bet, as long as you understand it is indoors only.

Safe and well organized club, minimum fuss, and excellent management without drama.

I live somewhere between Bridgeport Rod & Gun Club and Elmira Gun Club

Which is better for rifle / shotgun? Not interested in handguns really, I am just getting my license and looking where to join.

anyone knows anything about the range on bleams rd its like 5 km west from sunrise centre. any membership info please . thanks.

The decision to Cap the membership of the rifle section was strictly Rifle Section's prerogative. The cap costs the main club money. I have heard that cap may be lifted which is a good thing as a cap is a STUPID idea IMHO.

I've looked at this range as well - for many years I've gone to the site and every time it says "Rifle Range - No new members being accepted" - so I move on.

It's unfortunate as it is closer to my house then the one I currently go to.

In my experience, the waiting list is only about 3 months or less once one actually joins Galt. The club makes every effort to accommodate any paying member who wishes to jon the section. It just doesn't happen over night. To the best of my knowledge, every paying member who has been put on the "member's waiting list" is in the section in very short order.

Note there is a diffence between the members waiting list and non-members waiting list, with priority being given to getting members into the section.

Want to get into the section? Join the club, enjoy some shotgun for a little bit, and you'll be shooting your rifle before you go through two flats of shotgun shells.

But why join only to have to wait months....or perhaps years (and pay membership year after year) to use these facilities?

You missed the Twin Cities Rifle Club north of New Hamburg. They have a nice 300 metre range and an active brenchrest group. A number of my smallbore target rifle friends are members there, too.

Because you plan to belong to the club for more than a year (possibly a lifetime), so, what's a relatively painless waiting period for belonging to the only true full service club in the area (and by full service, I mean, Galt has Everything, indoor, outdoor, archery, fishing, world class shotgun facilities, and both rifle and handgun have separate 200 yd ranges)

We are the best club in the area, but, when it comes to rifle, we have a bit of a process. We aren't interested in the impatient. The rifle section admits existing club members into the section EVERY year.

If all you do is shoot rifle, and aren't interested in becoming a part of a community, then there are lots of alternatives. Galt, like every club, is a private club, and this is how it works. The explanation you may get from the website or over the phone isn't always the best, but, as you can see here, there are lots of us who are willing to explain what it takes to join. None of us regret it.

Anyone with more information on this club? Not far from me and would be interested in the trap and skeet shooting.

get on the list. there is a big waiting list. thats all i can tell you for now. what info are you looking for?

I suppose waiting list/times. Is it a large facility? Is the upkeep nice? Are the members good people? Is it busy during open hours?
I'm completely new to hunting and guns. Am I safe in my assumptions from reading that membership fees generally cover everything (ie: clay for skeet/trap is included). Can a member access a facility at any time or just opening hours?
I'm interested in these clubs as they seem like a good place for me to start out. Ie target practice/meeting other people with similar interests and possibly gaining some gun/hunting knowledge or hunting partner in the area.

i'm not sure the waiting time but i know there is a list.
yes its large. we have two skeet fields and one trap field plus i think its set up for clays on special days? i dont shoot shotgun so i dont know that much about it but i know they get together one day a week and there is like tons of people who shotgun together. you can use manual machines any time you want tho i think. you dont need to have a guy run them like the skeet machines.
rifles ranges are 100 200 300 + metal hanging targets. lots of lanes and they are enclosed.
pistol/rimfire range is 25 and 50

its never busy in the day usually just a handfull of people at most but just depends when you go. usually once a week some guys will get together for a shoot and it will be busy then.
most the members are good people because we have a cap.if you violate the rules you can be kicked out and they do actually listen to complaints.
there is shooting times.like 10 am- night? i'm not sure what they are. but its not stupid hours for each day of the week maybe sunday i think it ends for centerfire after 6? but you can still rimfire.
fees are for everything but you have to pay for targets and i think clay birds.
also there is no mandatory meetings other then the orientation.

i will try to post a picture for you so you can get an idea of what it looks like.

i forgot the have a small bore range too beside the rifle range.

here is some pics. they are old and some stuff has changed but still looks pretty close.
the rifle range and inside the 50 yard range.
