Which rifle bought bone stock could do good in a competition

Caramel, you show a great amount of restraint/class when dealing with many who have none on here. I always look forward to your posts, and your enthusiasm towards guns/shooting is enviable. Thank you for your posts!

Sometimes it is best to keep things to yourself, maybe it is a mistake to come out direct like that but i am who i am an i intend no disrespect... JP.

I don't believe you intended on coming across as disrespectful and as I mentioned in a previous post, I didn’t want to come across as being rude. If I did, I apologise as it was not the intent of it.

I however still stand by the affirmation that one doesn’t buy half a handful of high quality rifles such as TRG22, 42 and a Nemesis without knowing full well what their capabilities are. How many LR competitions have .308 rifle won? Countless of them.

Saying that you want a new LR rifle because you want a new one is totally understandable, but not because what you have not is not capable of it.

All my shooting prior the Nem was never intended a LR, the TRG were rifles i bought for a range max 500 metres, never had any interest in shooting further, my success with the Nem gave me the taste of it and for me a 308 was the best caliber ever (maybe it is still is )... Becoming a member on CGN really did spark the interest by make me aware of wonderfull sponsors and without them, would have never discover my takedown, the MR-1, Sightron scopes, the Icon rifles... etc. That is only that, nothing more complicated... JP.

Kudos to you Caramel and good on you. Nice to hear of your passion for your family, especially the grandkids, shooting and exciting "rides" like the Triumph.

I never took your posts as any thing but enthusiasm and a desire for knowledge and our great pursuit of happiness with the "spoils of our hard work."

Where my other home is in the South US, I see what we call the "crab syndrome" quite frequently. When you have a 1/2 full 5 gallon bucket of blue crabs, one crab will always try to climb out of the bucket but the other crabs in the bucket always seem to pull him back down into the bucket.

Keep on keepin' on Caramel

You talking of crabs made me remember a summer (1972) when i was 19, i spent the whole summer with a beautifull southern girl living near a place call Jekill island, dont remember the name of the town, at night we would go to the pier and catch so many crabs, they were delicious and she was to, very goods souvenirs... JP.

Damn, Did I show up late for "Frenchman Flogging Friday":D

On a barely related note, how do you like the Steyr Scout? I've never handled one but was a big admirer of Cooper and the concept has a lot of merit. Just not certain about how well Steyr did with the Scout. I've only handled one Steyr and, while it was accurate, I didn't like the safety and that was enough to turn me off.

The Scout Steyr 308 is just the best balanced and light rifle, accuracy around half inch with handloads one is set with the JC set up 2.5 X forward scope and the 2 others just have the regular scope, my 376 Scout Steyr is to light for pleasure but it is pushing a 270 gr TSXX at 2600 fps, it will tag along with my 416 Rigby when i will go to Africa, my latest aquisition the famous SBS Steyr Big Bore 450 Marlin is not a Scout but will give me .75 all day with 400 gr swift-A-Frame pushing them at 2100 fps, i am missing one to be happy the special edition made in 2010 the Scout Steyr Signature Jeff Cooper 308, only 300 were made and so far i've been unlucky, it seen nobody have one to sell, those rifles are keepers... JP.

You're most welcome.

The costs of importing a rifle, especially a rare one such as this one, is very minimal. Look up their website under the importing section, it'll give you an idea.

Its the time that it'll take to get it (under what it took for your Nemesis to get here that's for sure), but its not like you're rifle-less either :D

Clay is top-notch to deal with; superb service all around.

JP, maybe you could combine the Steyr and Nemesis when they return your Nemesis,

Did you find your rifle? In keeping with your collection I think it would be cool to have PGW build you the rifle of your choice, if they do. when you really want to get serious about factory offering and want to give the nemesis a challenge try a Unique Apline.

Don't forget to look at Anschutz's new line of rifles either. I shot a bone stock .223 1770 that out shot a lot of customs and would have done well in competitions
