ok guys,
first off thank you all for your feedback, greatly appreciated.
here's what I am now considering....
A Marlin 1895 GBL 45-70 with a fixe 2.5x Leupold scout scope
A Savage 116 Alaskan brush hunter in .338 WM with a 2-12x44 Leupold VX6 scope
My M14 (M305) with the standard stock and the Aimpoint
I've been wanting a 45-70 ever since I sold mine 2 years ago, I shoot it very well up to 200 yards and I just love the feel of it. The Savage is also a rifle I shoot well and I love the fact that it's a short handy rifle. The M14 would be the heaviest one at around 10 lbs with original stock and I also shoot it extremely well.
Now, I understand that the 45-70 and .308 would have to be use at short range and the .338 would give me more option for longer range but I'm not confident enough (at this point) to shoot further than 200 yards off hands anyways.
If I ever hunt at longer range in the years to come I would use my modified .338 wm or lapua from a stand or higher ground
How does that sound ?
thx again
