FWIW, Browning. Tried both in the past. The Buckmark is about as point and shoot friendly as you can get. But, like a previous poster said, handle both of them. Only opinion that matters is your own.
+1 for the GSG 1911. More so than the Ruger or the Buckmark, it will be a great trainer pistol for anything that has a same/similar grip angle to a 1911 (CZ, Springfield XD). It's a great pistol, with some fine tuning. YMMV, but I had to polish the rails on the frame and the slide to get it to cycle properly, and stretch my mag springs. Maybe I'm crazy but all that extra work (none of it is hard, everything can be found on YouTube) made me love that gun even more.
