Just bought a Browning BLR with 2 piece weaver bases and a Leupold VXII 1-4power scope on it. I wanna replace the rings because they are kinda chewed up but I really like the height it is currently at. What are some good rings out there on the market that don't cost a fortune? I want the rings to be in glossy black to match the rest of the setup.

Here is a pic of the rings I have on now, are they low or med?

looks good , got clear access to the hammer, only poss problem would be if its a bit high , ie. your face comes off the stock. This can be corrected with a strap on rest on the butt stock. Or you could see how lower rings may work. Best way to check this is to shoulder the firearm with your eyes closed(empty gun) open , and check to see if your eye is centered, or you have to re position your head for edge to edge clear sighting.
If all good, and just want better rings, get high

Either mic them or buy both low and med, and bring one set back, be sure to tell your retailer what you are doing and if they will return a set. Only way to tell which one works best for you, each person prefers different ring height.

I sure don't blame you for wanting to change them, they don't measure up to the rest of the rig. They look like something bushnell would throw in for free on a pelletgun scope. A low Burris would look pretty good, and although they are called low aren't particularly low.
They look like mediums from the picture. Measure from the bottom of the saddle to where the ring would contact the base. That will at least give a number to work with, since one companies "low" is the next companies "medium". Or just take the gun in with you, and come home with exactly what you want. I do it all the time when there's any doubt, but usually to get the lowest possible setup.

Height...

So these are the rings I took off the BLR, when measuring the height I measure to the middle of the scope channel down to what?

Pic A is pointing at that claw:

Pic B is pointing at the center flat base:

Rings...

Right on so I measured my old rings and they came out to about 3/8 of an inch or .375". I wouldn't mind dropping a bit of height for my eyes to line up but I also don't want my front rifle sight in my scope view too much either.

Burris Zee rings in a medium height are .270" and should do the trick nicely. Thanks for your help!!!

Let us know how you like the Zee rings, what installation was like (mysticplayer here is a dealer) and put up a pic so that we can see the difference.

Good luck!

Should I get a clear edge to edge sighting with my scope on lowest power or highest?
