Which Scope for my New Ruger 10/22?

That would be much appreciated. Just send me a PM and I'll send you a bit of $.

I think I know what you mean. My 10/22 stovepipe jams like crazy with all but a couple of types of catridges. It's SUPER picky and not what I'd call reliable. I think the new ones are s**t.

Oh...and I get better accuracy out of a daisy pellet gun.

????

I know bushnell used to have a sub $100.00 rimfire scope which was a pretty nice deal for the money. The story I got when I went to buy one was they are now sold under the Simmons name. Not sure if that is true or not, but the Simmons seems pretty clear and accurate for the price.

As to the new 10/22's I have a carbine and SR which both fall under the new "plastic trigger group" and have had no problems with either. Might have just got a bad one, or I got 2 good ones :)

Ps: Did you get the set screws you were looking for? I'm pretty sure I still have mine if you still need some.

Used Nikon, Tasco, Bushnell..in that order. $100 really limits what you can get out of the scope and rifle. There's a train of opinion that states the scope should be worth twice what the rifle is worth. I don't totally subscribe to that, but there's no denying the world of difference that good glass can make.

I like the simmons 3-9 22 mag scope. Can be had a wss for 50 bucks. Got em on 3 rimfires so far and all hold zero well. For 50 bucks they are very well made and clear IMHO.

I picked up a lightly used Simmons Whitetail 4-12x40, I have had another in 50mm for a pneumatic air rifle for about 10 years, and they are really good IMHO, particularly for the $.

It's parrallax adjustable from 50ft to 100 yards which is useful, the finish is rugged and can handle the bush, and the general overall quality is high. Light transmission at dusk / dawn is very good, up there with other brands at 3 times the value. I have not seen a scope new under $300 for a while that comes even close. (Nikon / Vortex, on sale at the time!)

The only problem is, they stopped this line of scope a while ago, but look around, some places still have them new, but most are previously owned.

Good luck with finding a scope, a good one makes the Ruger real fun.

Candocad.

I put a Tasco rimfire 3-9x32mm on my VLEH. It's been decent so far, but I haven't had a chance to play with it extensively.

Had Banner .22 4X on mine for 20 years. It was okay when it comes to holding zero. Replaced it yesterday with the Tasco .22 4X(40yd parallax free i think)and the optics are way better. More like shooting through a half decent wide angle centerfire scope. I payed 59 plus tax at local shop but they are probaly online for 40ish. This one came with the mounts.

Happy New Year everyone!

As cyclone says, NcStar scopes seem ok. I fondled one yesterday, a 3-9 MKIII Tactical w/illuminated red/green mil-dot reticle and was suitably impressed. This is the scope I will be getting for my 10/22 tactial build, possibly the model that comes with a small red-dot on top. The image was clear, 3-9 zoom worked as advertised, no blurring around the edges of the image, and the illuminated reticle, well, its pretty cool!!:)
Cheers!!
