Weavers seem a decent price point... which ones are best and is there any particular size I should order?
There's a surprising lack of specifics on this doing a Google search.
Thanks

Well, it depends a bit on the scope you want to mount ....

I mounted my scope on my Hastings 870 barrel with Warne Scope Mounts. I wasn't sure about the height ... so I ordered two different heights from Amazon.ca ... used the ones with which I could mount the scope the lowest ... and returned the other set.

The larger the objective lens of the scope (diameter), the higher it needs to be mounted.
In the picture below the scope has a 24mm lens and I was able to use the low mounts.
On another slug gun I mounted a 50mm lens and I had to use the medium height mounts in order to get the clearance.

The Warne ones are solid and do the job.

Worked fine for me .... :)

And here the other shotgun with medium height Warne Scope Mounts:

Generally I'd say the lowest you can get away with.

A good high quality reasonably priced extra-low set are offer by TPS rings.

I use UTG quick release 'max strength' rings. I have them on my turkey shotgun for may years ZERO issues. I highly recommend them and if they're tough enough for turkey loads, then they're tough enough for slugs in my book.
