Dont know which scope to get. Vortex diamondback 3-9 or 4-12x40 with bdc reticle, or Redfield revolution tac moa 3-9x40.

im hearing that the vortex is a bit better glass but i prefer the redfield moa reticle. I will be hunting with it and want to do some hobby long rang shooting too. Are there tricks to using vortex's BDC reticle as effectively as redfield's moa one?

which scope would you guys get?

The Vortex Diamond back in your flavour isn't worth the $$ they are selling for.
It needs a parallax adjustment kah-nawbbie.
Eye relief isn't nuff for heavier recoiling rifles.

You're asking a scope to perform two different things.
Pick your flavour or own two shooters with optics to match.

JMHO..........YMMV

interesting. how did the quality compare in your opinions?

Much better glass with the vortex.

The Sparc's on/off switch stopped working (replaced on warrenty) The diamond backs windage adjustment would spin and do nothing (replaced on warrenty) the replacement diamond back had a "spinning" crosshair. The PST Viper lasted 30 rounds on the M-14..... The retailer I purchased the PST from allowed me to return the replacement and apply the store credit on another target scope.

As a side note.... I have a NIB diamondback rifle scope (just got a warranty replacement) that I won't sell to someone I like.....

I have a Redfield Revolution on a Basset scope mount, I swap it on and off several M-14s and I also use it to verify accuracy on customer rifles. I believe it has seen 700-800 rounds on an M-14. Still going strong, not a hiccup!

The Redfield Revolution line of scopes are comparable to a Leupold VX-3, but at half the cost.
