which scope would u pick

6.5 x20 the nice thing is there are times when more magnifaction is required than if you had a 4.5 x14, the 6.5 has all the benifits of the 4.5 at low power and has great long range benifits of the 20x

Have you tried the Warne custom bases? Thats what I run on my Dakota and they are an excellent base. Mine is a 20 MOA. If your not sure where I got mine, PM me and I will let ya know.

The Leupold site says the scope has 70 or 75moa elevation depending on which one you look at. If you half that, assuming zero is at mid point that only gives me 35-37moa up from zero. When I was out shooting 175grns at 800yrds the other day I had to hold over a good 12 feet to hit the target. Currently I am using a VXIII 6.5-20 x 40 with 1" tube. It is good to 600 yrds and then tops out. Maynard, the Burris rings may be an option but we did have a guy who was having trouble with them sliding on him so I am concerned they may cause me more grief in the long run. Certainly are a less expensive option though.

I've used the Burris set on a few rifles and never had them slip... maybe he didn't have them tightened down, some type of grease under them... you could sprinkle some rosin on them but I've never seen/had the need to do that...
for the cost of them compared to other setups... I think it's worth a shot...
