Which scopes have more then 3" eye relief that ...

Hey all, I was just wondering what scopes have more then like 3" eye relief but that are comparable to a Bushnell Elite 3200 ?

I was thinking like 5 inches would be good or something like that. The scope on my 30-06 doesn't seem to have enough and I don't want to move it back because I don't want it smashing me in the head.

You might want to make sure the rifle & stock fits you properly. You shouldn't be having any problems with a standard-relief scope on an '06
 
Do I just go to a gunshop with my gun and ask them to check out to see if my gun suits me?

Like I can see out of it fine if I go close but I don't want the scope in the face so I tend to stay back a bit. Maybe I will just shoot how I should and see if it hits me in my gun glasses.
 
Have you ever been hit in the face by your scope? if so, i think you are just scared of the rifle. You have to learn that your rifle can't hurt you

that's good advise unless the scope is in the wrong place.
A buddy of mine with funny eyesite asked me to shoot his Savage 3006 with a Bushnell elite 4200 and I got a terrible cut over my eye. If the scope was setup for somebody else it can HURT you. Take it to a gunshop or to an experinced shooter and see if it's setup right for you.
 
Well the first time my friend shot my rifle, he got a nice cut above his eye. I was laughing at him but I don't want the same thing to happen to me

The prblem many shooters have is that they crrawl thhe stock in a snap shooting situation.
When that happens, even if the LOP is too long, thet stand a chance of getting whacked, with acute SCOPATOSIS resulting!:eek: :D

3.5 to 4" of eye releif really helps in these situations, and scopes like thhe Zeiss and leupold help tremendously.
Watch out for the scope that loses its eye relif as the power is turned up, also!

Swarovski

Most Swarovski scopes have approx 1/3 of an inch eyecup movement inward toward the scope (like a plunger) to absorb shock and prevent eyecuts. It also has good eyerelief and a large rubber edge on the eyepiece.

That would include all leupold variables.Fortunately,they have at least 3.5" even at the highest magnification.But make sure that you take this changing eye relief into account when mounting the scope.

However the truth be known,if the elite 3200 3x9x40 is mounted properly,it will not be a problem on a 30-06.I used one on a knight muzzleloader with much more recoil,and several friends use them on 7mmremmags and a 338winmag.None of us have had any issues with being struck by the scope.

Remember that some scopes eye relief changes with the power the scope is set at, so if you are using the scope at it's upper power range you will have less eye relief. Check the manufacturers web site they always have the tech. specs. for all their models.Generally the higher the power the less eye relief. Some scopes today also claim to have a constant eye relief that is worth looking into since you will always have your head in the same position on the stock.
