so im tossing up between scout rails
mainly the Ultimak and the UTG w/ stripper clip rail

i like the ultimak because its low profile, but lacks the ability to mount conventional scopes

i dislike the UTG because its not low profile and a cheek piece is required, but i can use conventional optics

how do you guys feel on the subject ?

also the Socom16 has a great little mount.. does anyone know if they are available aftermarket ?

UTG is the best bang for my buck. Honestly once I mount an optic on this rifle I rarley ever use the iron sight's. The Ultimak is good but I hate pistol scope's. Now as for the Socom16 is great for red dot's but honestly rather have a varible optic.

By SOCOM rail, do you mean Vltor cluster rail?
There was a cluster rail available in the EE recently.
The extended version reach the stripper clip guide. American quality alternatives are Troy Battle rail and Knight RAS deluxe.

Now if you want to use an Aimpoint red-dot, the Ultimak will allow you to cowitness the iron sights.

Personally I like the KAC M14RAS.................easy to install.....works great and looks great.........drawback is the price..........

I used it for long and short range optics without any issues..............

I like the UltiMAK M8 with an Aimpoint sitting low enough to co-witness the irons. No cheek riser needed.

The Leupold FX-II 2.5x28mm IER Scout is a great option.

NICE! .

I just installed a UTG rail courtesy of a board member and i must say its very nice , im still debating an optic and the fact that ive seen pictures of the military using the UTG rail its gotta say something for their reliability and durability

Only thing i dont like about the utg rail is its a bit difficult to get my 3 point to hook up around it .
