Which semi .22 would you buy?

That great thanks for the info. Cabelas has the marbles sight in two lengths, 1 7/8 and 2 3/4 ... so do you think the 2 3/4 is what fits the 795?

The regular 795 has a regular notched leaf rear sight, but the stainless and deluxe models (M60 dlx) have a folding semi buckhorn. If you wanted to upgrade I'm sure you could order the folding semi buckhorn that is on the deluxe model marlin 60, it's blued and should be a straight swap. Western gun parts probably has it.
Otherwise there is always tech sights, which I'd like to use someday. They're a nice M1 style rear peep and winged post type. Williams makes decent sights for it too, as does Marbles if he wants a real nice buckhorn.

And the marbles... Likely expensive this one mind you.

Tech sights, also an expensive option, but fully adjustable for wind and elevation.

Seeing how your dad is 75, how are his hands - okay with loading the box mag (is there a mag loader for them?) or easier to drop them into tube mag (M60)?

Have a stainless M60, 795 and 70PSS - all work well. If a consideration then the 70PSS may be lightest of the bunch.

Good thinking regarding mags.

Good point but he is ok with loading the mags and likes the idea of just popping out the mag when getting on the four wheeler instead of dumping out the tube mag.
In any event an hour ago we ordered it along with a spare mag and semi buckhorn sight. He was grinning like a kid on Christmas morning...lol

I would suggest the Pietta Puma PPS-50 wildcat. Absolutely love the gun! Works great, accurate, and easy to maintain! Only one jam after 300 rounds. I wouldn't suggest the drum magazine though, go with the 30 round stick. Thruthfully I like it much better than the 10\22.

So I picked up the 795 and the old fella and I tried it out. Couldn't believe how light and small it feels. Shoots well and Dad seemed happy with it so all good!

Thanks for the help fellas.

Congrats! I think you made the right choice. My buddy has a brand new Marlin 60 he just dumped a bunch of money into and at 50 yards his groups look like my shot gun patterns. :)
