I am getting ready to pick out my short barrel for my Ruger 10-22 SBR build.

I know there are several companies that offer them. They are offered in a variety of chamber/twist combinations as well.

I am looking for the most reliable chamber and twist rate for use with common bulk ammo. This will not be a target gun, but a fun gun to run fast. That is what I am after. A chamber that will let me run fast. :)

With the stock I plan to use I suspect I will need a 8" to 10" barrel to remain legal.

Thanks for your help.

this one loves blazers. I think its a dlask barrel but its sold and marked by fabarm. 11.5" sporter

dlask makes a real nice 12.5" with the muzzle threaded to accept many AR style accesories. I currently run a 12.5" on my 10/22 in an AA556 stock and it eats any ammo that I have thrown at it.

it is a heck of a lot of fun. Its also quite accurate for a SBR. I'm getting consistant .75" groups at 50m. That pic is from last year. Its in all black now. I even blued the bolt for a black look. I also found better rings for it and gave it a nice trigger and polished all the internals. I just looked at the barrel and it actually says fabsports on it. Not sure the story on it as I bought it used. I have a bunch of 10/22's but for some reason this is the one I always grab when I want to make some noise, and I must warn you, make noise it does indeed. This is an updated pic with its folding brother.

Dlask X-treme chambers are a no go with Blazer.

I'm not sure about the sporter chamber.

The sporter chamber is fine with Blazer and with a little wear it will take mini mag HP's and solids too... ours are up and running now with our preferred MMHP's.

anyone know if Dlask offers non threaded barrels?
Whats wrong with a threaded barrel? Just get the cover cap like volks are us and then if you ever do want to add something you can. I am sure Dlask would make you one without threads if you asked nicely:p if that was what you really wanted. I really like my 12.5 with the Levang comp on it and it is quite accurate also though I have one of those reflex sights on the gun so I have never done a true accuracy test on it.

They all shoot good... the trigger makes a big difference in accuracy though when you read range reports... our 12.5" Ultimates have RT groups... the 10.5" Tactical builds have VQ groups and the Pinky 8 has a OEM Brimstone Tier Two work over, which I would put on par with the VQ, the RT is a finer trigger and gives our Ultimates an accuracy edge.

The reason I don't want threads is so I can mount a .920 sight over the very end of the barrel.
You only lose about 5/8" to the threading, not enough to notice in the sight radius, specially one that short. What iron sights are you putting on? Peep on the rear? I think it would look cool with a Levang in front of the sights but what do I know, lol. They also seem to make the short barrels a little quieter but that is only my opinion, I have never checked with a db meter.
