tikka270,
Don't listen to these guys! These are all good guns -- your "buddy" should buy the one that fits him within his budget. If you buy a shotgun that does not fit the shooter, he won't be able to hit s**t with it.
Cheers/luck, John
my buddy who is a decent trap shooter cant hit s**t with my gun,but i rarely miss and we always shoot trap together so its not like I have more experience on this gun than he does
Ithica! bottom eject! http://www.ithacagun.com/firearms.html
I have the featherlight I use it from deer on the farm to ducks in the pond, and the clay pidgons in the wind.
I'm surprised it hasn't been said yet, but get the 870 Marine Magnum. It will never rust and never fail you. And it looks pimptastic so the girls will throw themselves at his feet.
I'd push for the 870 and Super Nova. Own both, both are great guns. I like how the Super Nova strips down using the nipple on the magazine cap to get the trigger assembly out. 870's can be taken apart by a blind amputated chimpanzee!!! But a gun ain't worth $..t if it doesn't fit well!
See if your buddy can be exposed to a few different shottys from friends and find which he shoots best. Then go buy one!
Among the guns mentioned in the first post I know which one I'd choose but that shouldn't matter to the prospective buyer. What does matter is whether the gun fits him and feels good in his hands. Go to a gun store, ask to see all of the ones mentioned, work the action, work the safety, put the gun to your shoulder, dry fire if you can, imagine shooting a few ducks and your choice will be obvious.
