Which Sig to buy?

Is it the Blackwater Tac you have? The website shows no SRT on the reg Blackwater.

I was talking about the Blackwater Tac, I didn't realize there was more than one type of blackwater pistol. I don't own one but I should would like one. If someone want to donate on the me I wouldn't say no. :)

I have a 229 elite 9mm and yes the SRT is great for quick shooting I also have a 226 blackwater 9mm (no SRT) that I lean more towards, my hands fit the full size 226 better, also I switched out the wood grips on my 229 to wrap around houges and it feels much better the wood ones just felt too short

Th 229 grip is a bit wider than the 226. For your first Sig (there will be others, you can count on that) go for a 226 in .40cal with night sights if can find it. You can buy a drop in 9mm barrel for it and then later pickup the .22cal version and/or the 357Sig barrel. The 3 calibres will work from the same mags.

But try to shoot one before you buy, some people love the way they feel in their hand others do not. A new Sig will have a heavy DA trigger, but it will smooth out. If you ha med o big hands the Sig should work well in your hands. I have 3 Sigs 226ST, 229Elite, 220RNS the 229 has the spare 357Sig and 9mm barrels and the 226 has the .22cal kit. And I still want to buy another one....

Shooters,

In regards to the Sig 229, is it wise to spend the extra cash and get the SRT or is the stock good enough? If its better to save up, I am looking at the Blackwater 226R with the SRT. I am thinking 9mm since my pistol shooting revolves around the 9mm platform.

As a Glock shooter, this will be my first Sig and after much research, it seems like the SRT is the way to go but thats a few extra hundred dollars on an already expensive pistol.

I have both a 229 elite w/ srt and ya if your going to go the 229 route I'd suggest the elite but than again I have not shot a regular 229, my blackwater does not have a srt and I dont seem to notice the difference by very much mabe a couple mm but in less you are doing very fast shooting I dont think you would notice it and regards to the srt in a blackwater you need to get the tactical blackwater.

I would get a basic P226R in two-tone:

The reason I'd pick two tone over Nitron is practicality: the slide is just bead blasted stainless steel, so there is no finish to wear out from holster use, etc.

I personally would not spend extra money on the Equinox, Elite, Platinum Edition and other blinged out "barbecue gun" versions on the good 'ole P226.

I would really recommend any Sigs with the SRT. I've always liked Sig triggers but this feature makes them that much better.

I've decided I want to try a P229 Elite. There's just something about that beavertail frame for a die-hard 1911 lover...

A question on sights:

Can someone please explain the difference between:
1. Adjustable Combat Night Sights
as on the P226 Elite Dark for example

2. SIGLITE® rear night sights
as on the blackwater tactical (ignoring the different fiberoptic front sight) or P226 X-Five Tac

I would think the adjustable sight would be better, so why does SIG not put it on the nicer Blackwater tactical or X-Five Tac?

Also are there any target style sights that can be fittted onto a SIG P226 (Without buying an X-Five that comes with one)?

Thanks a lot!

1) probly just an adjustable night sight...combat makes it sound abit cooler

2)SIGs own style night sight...the rear sight has 2 dots

Tactical/duty type sights are fixed.

LPA sights are available for most SIGs

My understanding is that even the tactical 'fixed' sights can be adjusted with the proper tool, right?

LPA sights you say - tell me more pelase!

The only way you can adjust a FIXED site is with a site pusher that would adjust the windage, or you can replace the sight with a different height sight to change the elevation...but basically FIXED means just that it doesnt move once you set it up...usually they come from the factory set!

LPA = Low Profile Adjustable.

These are the adjustable sights that come stock on most of the X series and a couple other special runs that SIG has produced. They are a dovtail type sight, and the factory fixed sight can be pushed out and the LPA sight can then be pushed into the same dovtail...I belive that TSE carries LPA sights, or a google would also turn up some info on them.

There are probly other sights that would work as well, but the LPAs are what SIG installs at the factory
