Which Single-shot rifle would you choose?

No weight listed, or price for that matter, only one is low I would assume.
 
I've owned a number of both types , I like them all . Until recently , I had a Savage 219 in 30/30 that was far more accurate than it should be . I've owned a fair number of Ruger No 1's and 3's , Browning B78's and a Wickliffe ( should have kept that one ) . They all have their virtues , but if I was forced to choose , it would be a Browning B78 or it's Winchester version . All the ones I've had shot really well and , to me at least , seem to be made with tighter tolerances than the Rugers . Long story short , I like any decent single shot .
 
I really like my Lyman little sharps.. the set trigger has spoiled me.
Love all my ruger #1 aswell as my H & R handi rifles...
But that lightweight titanium one has my wallet scarred..

I owned a FAIR in 6.5X55, fantastic rifle, but sadly sold it in a moment of weakness!Very quick to come up and get on target;)

Very cool gun, love the underlever on the tilting block action.

I bet the blaser offering with the pistol grip is an excellent design for real world hunting positions, but it doesn't hold a candle to that rifle in terms of looking good.

This thread makes me miss my cheap kipplauf, and my ruger no 1.
 
I bought blind a 357 mag in Traditions Outfitter G2 and i bought the same iin 44 mag.

These are cool/ light and accurate rifles.

Falling blockS are my favorite.

Although I have rifles in both action types, and like them both.

The Browning 1885/B78’s are a different level of firearm all together!
They are heavier, but are massively strong actions , and the fore-stock hanger design lends itself to far more precise accuracy potential.

I like the ruger number 1’s design, but have never had one capable of shooting less than 1.5 MOA. I know other claim to have much better accuracy from their number 1’s, but I haven't seen it. The rugers fore-stock hanger design is simply a poor design. Target quality Accuracy seems to be accidental/ coincidental to me.
They are “FAR” to pricey to justify the typical accuracy they deliver! FAAAAR!
Other than that they are beautiful rifles! And I would LOVE to have one that could/would be xapable of earning a spot in my collection by achieving MOA accuracy!

Every single Browning/Miruko 1885 & B78 I have ever owned has shot under MOA with simply NO effort!
A few of them average close to 1/2”! Love the dependability!

The T/C hinge action rifles I have tend to shoot well, but hover around the 1-1/2” or less range. They are MUCH lighter and a joy to shoot!
 
for back pack hunting, just a Baikal or even Rossi? single hinge .308 bored to .338 fed...

an for general, just one, a ruger 1 enter cal here
 
I just bought a Ballard Pacific only because it was available and is a good action. I passed on a nib Falling Block Works large action for $500. I have a Falling Block Works in 38-55 made by Ron Smith. I’m shooting much less now so could not see getting another. Preference is so personal but I’ve had/have many singles and give the nod to falling blocks then rollers. Break actions remind me of the old 36” Cooey recoil factory of my youth, so little desire.

1 Luxus 22 Hornet gorgeous wood, had it had a polished blued finish I'd still own it

3 Savage 219 in 30-30, nicely balanced

12 H&R in various cartridges, terrible triggers.

1 Henry 223 terrible trigger

Numerous TC Contender barrels my favorite break action

I am torn on this question. As far as the preferred action, I lean mostly towards the falling block for most of the same reasons already listed by other members.

That said, my overall favourite single is the Luxus 11. I just love the fit and aesthetics of this rifle.
 
Make mine a Browning 1885, maybe a 7mm or .300 mag to take full advantage of the 28" barrel. I'm hoping they start making them under the Browning name again, I'd be first in line. I'd even be fine with a plain old .30-06, super classy.
