I am looking for a new spotting scope and I want to get the best one for my dollar. I had a swaro HD but I wasn't impressed for how much I paid for it. So I tried a bushnell elite and it is no good. I like the lieca but I can't bring myself to spend $4000. Any help would be appreciated.

Pentax ED 65 or 80.
Get a Pentax non zoom eyepiece - I believe the best ones are XF.
Glass is superb and just ever so slightly behind the Leica for clarity/resolution.
I had a 65ED and with the zoom eyepiece from the 80, was able to look at the bark features on a pine tree 2000yds away. The separate eye pieces are even better.
Not bad for the money spent.
