Which Stag AR-15?

At the moment, what is the same on all the Canadian rifles are the barrels on the 16" carbines. All current (new) offerings are the LE 1/7 556NATO HP/MP certified barrels. This is the first time in a long time we have been able to offer these barrels to non-Govt end users. So calling all by standard names... differentiating features.

1R: 16" Carbine with detachable A3 carry handle rear sight. 6-Pos Stock.
2R: 16" Carbine with back up iron sight. Current options are Midwest Ind. ERS & Troy Folding Battle Sights.
2T: 16" Tactical Carbine with Samson FF Quadrail and ARMS#40 LP rear sight.
3R: 'Optics Ready' Carbine. Railed gas block up front. Includes Diamondhead USA V-RS Drop In modular forearm.
5R: 16" 6.8SPC
6R: 24" SS Precision Rifle.
8R/8L: Piston Carbine. Diamondhead USA Front & Rear Sights.

3G and 3GL: Three Gun Competition Rifle. 18" SS Fluted Barrel, Samson Evolution Forearm. Geissele S3G trigger. In stock, not yet on site. We are working through shipping dealer and customer backorders first.
For current Canadian inventory (if we have it, your local dealer should too), the carbines shown as available, are. Our site is being updated over the past few days, and will continue to be as rifle backorders are worked through.

Good choice. Good timing.

We have now received multiple requests from our American neighbors to open our shipping to US Addresses.)

Thanks for the comparison.

Is the piston worth the price premium, and is it also "optics ready"? The intro video on it by the folks at Stag mentioned it was better for those that didn't want to clean it after every shoot, which is definitely appealing.

Would a 22LR conversion work in all of the Stag models? Is the plus package available/applicable in Canada?

People who like the Piston system really seem to like it (including me). They do keep the bolt clean and cool. Also ready for any optics. Included Diamondhead Flip Front and Rear are very nice sights, and tuck away when desired.

The .22 Conversions works in all the rifles/carbines.

Plus package is the name Stag Arms put on them Stateside when they started offering the LE 1/7 CMV line to the public, in Canada we've had access to the LE/Govt line since Day 1. We haven't adopted the name, but these rifles have the same barrel/bolt as the stateside plus package.

Hope that helps.

Definitely does, thanks. You'll be hearing from me when my PAL is delivered :)

You'll love it.

Stag

I bought the model 3 R through Lantz Shooting Supplies after looking at all the models they had in stock and doing a fair bit of online research. I chose the Model three for flexibility. I found the Versa grip the most comfortable option and will buy and install rails as required. I've also installed the Diamondhead sights which I got from Lantz via Arms East. As said in an earlier post, the carbine came with all the features of the "plus" package.

This is my first AR and so I'm deeply into the learning phase. I love tinkering and upgrading so there are other purchases in the cards including an Eotech Holo and a Geissele 3G trigger set.

Part of my reason for choosing Stag is that I like and respect the people who sell them here. I like to buy into the relationship when I choose my equipment and it's hard to go wrong with Arms East and Lantz.

Model 3

You are correct. They're up now. New high-res pics taken at AEI too.

I just checked the site and think the description needs tweaking. There are no sights as shipped and I think the flash hider is actually the Stag muzzle break; at least it is on mine.

You might think of advising people who do buy sights to get the correct FS for the gas block install if that's what they plan.

Hi Gord,

Thanks for this. Fixed the front sight base in the description. The carbines are shipping with the A2 Flash Hider (We have brakes from Stag Arms, VLTOR, Magpul in stock, but not included).

The picture included is of actual inventory.

Best regards,
Walt

Walt,

I guess I got lucky then as mine came with the brake which to me works well. I bought the Diamondhead sights because I wanted to be able to use them on another upper at some point. I got the standard height FS but had I not had plans for the second upper I would have gotten the model meant for the lower railed gas block to get the longer sight radius.

I'm heading out again today to fine tune zero and must say that I'm pleased with the gun. As an aside, I tried Frog Lube on it following all the "cooking" directions and it works great. It's easy to work with and smoothed out the action on the Stag immediately.

Both are excellent products and when complimented by the services from you and Seth, they make me a happy camper.

I absolutely love my 2TR.

This is the perfect rifle for my uses. Accurate and absolutely reliable. I outshot a guy running a H&K at my last 3Gun match.

I recommend Stag and Arms East to anyone who stands still long enough for me to yell at them.

+1

I just sold my Stag 2R here recently that I picked up from Arms East (great guys to deal with btw!) but that's just because I HAD to have a Knights. It was my first AR and was great - absolutely no issues with it.
