Which stainless/synthetic hunting rifle?

I think this entire discussion should hinge on price point. It's not fair to compare a 350 dollar savage to a 750 dollar Tikka. Having said that I opted for the TC venture. I had limited dollars to spend. I liked the way it felt and shouldered and I either had to take a step down in quality, accuracy or pay more to get similar in the Tikka. I didn't particularly like the feel of that rifle although I'll grant that the action was nice and smooth. So is the Venture's. As for aesthetics. That's nice and all but you can't "pretty" a good shot :)

Woodlotowner: Prior to the early 90's Rugers used to buy their barrels from the lowest bidder and they were a crap shoot to which one shot well. Then they installed a hammer forging machine to make their own and are now producing excellent quality barrels. The last Ruger's I bought were superbly accurate. A friend is now using a Ruger in F-class shooting and it preforms on par with other custom Savage's and Remington's. Personally I prefer stainless Rugers to all the others for hunting rifles because they are far cheaper to build into great shooting custom rifles. Steve
