Which Stainless Tumbler Do You Recommend?

Quick story for you 50. Three or 4 years ago I was looking for a small ball mill to bust up some rock for some assay work. I ended up on the United Nuclear website and they were selling the Thumbler at a very good price. When it came I told my brother that
would make a hell of a brass thumbler. That tumbler probably busted up 250 to 300 pounds of a soft rock over the summer. It ran like 6 hours a day for 5 days a week for 3 or 4 months. Never missed a beat and if I was to clean it up it would look like new. I bought the stainless media too but I haven't used it yet for brass. Damned good unit.

i got the red one, looked at bigger stuff but was to pricey for me to justify, does about 250 9mm a session, good enough for me and im loving my results

When bringing stuff up from the states, if at all possible, have them ship USPS. They are secure, much faster than UPS and waay cheaper.

Thumbler B. Liked it so much, I re-tumbled all my waiting brass :)

Search on stainless back a couple months here, and you'll find postings regarding PelletsLLC - they're an easy bunch to deal with for the pins (not only do they know what type to send you, but they have them pre-bagged just for gun nuts :)

Canadian Treasure Seekers have the Thumbler Tumbler "B" for $220 with free shipping but don't buy their SS media, very expensive. STM has a good deal on SS media at $50 USD for 5 pounds. Both are excellent to deal with.

So I'm convinced investing the extra doe in a quality stainless media tumbler is worth it.

I've been looking at Thumler's Tumbler the big red one, any others I should be looking at?

Thoughts, Experiences?

Another option is the Lortone QT12. Works as well as the Thumler model B. Both are available at canadiantreasureseekers.com The Thumler model B is currently out of stock for the next month or so. He offers free shipping in canada! Only he doesn't have the stainless media yet but he will be bringing some in soon. SS media is available on the EE from getmygun:cool:

Thanks

I just ordered the model B for 179USD. I'm also in the process of building one. I say the model B is my Plan B, if Plan A works then Plan B will be listed for what I got into it.

Where did you guys get yours from? If state side do you remember roughly what it cost to ship?
cabelas.com was where I got my Mod B, it was the cheapest landed cost of any place I could find when I bought mine. Go through the check out process and cabelas gives a detailed break down of all charges (no surprises at the door).

Pellet's inc sell's their pin's for $5 a lb

I bought my thumblers tumbler model B from Sinclair International as a kit with 5 lbs of stainless media for $219.95 I had a lot more on the order so I am not sure what the shipping was for just the tumbler, but they ship fast and shipping is reasonable.

Canadian tire sells the Lemi Shine and Dawn dish soap is available everywhere and your ready for some super shiny brass.

Note that the Model B comes in 2 versions.

1) Regular Speed = 20 RPM
2) High Speed = 40 RPM

(But I have seen conflicting data with some saying 30 rpm)

For brass tumbling, get the High Speed version.

My problem with the Thumbler is that I think it's just too small... Also, I fear that the motor they're using isn't going to last if one was to over load the drum.

I built one using a 1/4 horse motor.... 'Works great and I can use drums diferent sizes if I wish.

The drums(s) are just drain pipe with end caps and "fins" installed

The Lortone QT12 looks good.

What about the "Thumler Model A-R18 Rock Tumbler"? The two 9 lb chambers might be nice to tumble two different groups of cartridges.
