Well, I just got a new job and to celebrate I am going to treat myself to a new stock for my Ruger 10/22 Magnum. Since this model of rifle has been discontinued I really want to make it a show piece.

Here are a few blanks I have to choose from. The first one is a little out of my price range ( I still need to consider the cost of checkering, finishing and ebony tip and end caps).

Wow!! Those are all real nice!!

As nine mentioned 400 and 403 are reallly nice - but I kinda like 813 as well (would IMO be the best "bang for the buck" if you want to call it that ;)

Thanks for the help. I actually have decided to go with a different stock maker. He made me a 10/22 stock awhile back and did great work.
I think I'll stick with someone familiar.

Thanks for the help. :D

Thanks guys. I will be using a different blank. Claude Gatewood will be the stock maker so I will keep you all posted on what he picks out.

Thanks again for all the input.

Well, I decided to go with a stock maker named LeRoy Barry of Canyon Creek Custom Gunstocks. Check out some of his work http://www.canyoncreekgunstocks.com/Display.asp

I have decided to go with his Classic stock with shadow cheek piece, AAA+ Claro, Ebony grip and end cap and checkering.

Here is an example of the wood grade that will be used in making my stock.

I'd be interested in seeing that Brownell profile wrapped around that thick in the middle receiver. It would be a decent homage to Ruger though- Brownell designed the original 77 and 77-22 stocks... The cut of the stock in the picture could pass for one of his...

The checkering on mine won't be as fancy as the $$$ got out of control to get everything I wanted.

I just got an email for Canyon Creek stating that my stock is finished :eek:

What do you think, should I have it shipped now or wait until after Christmas?
