Which SWFA SS?

Just got a quote on email from Brianna at swfa. $445 USD all in. They want $100 for shipping which is insane, but for the scope that's still a deal.

That's why you buy multiples with other peeps and split the shipping. We paid ~$350CAD per scope, all in, on our last order. ;)

Also, I've used a few different 6x scopes and they work just fine at 40 meters. Whatever you do, for the love of God, skip the see-thru rings. LOL.

I tried ordering on line and could not get past the canadian visa even though I wanted it shipped to Vt. Do they ship direct to you in Canada?

Yessir. They ship to Canada now, but Canadian orders have to be phoned or emailed in.

I don't want to hijack this thread but I I will be ordering a SWFA SS 10X42 and I was wondering which one of the two version is the best pick...

The original design with the focus on the main tube ( rear fosuc ) or the model with the more practical side focus ?

FWIW - SWFA tax sale on now. Decent deals on certain SS scopes, but not so much in way of mil/mil configuration. Otherwise everything 10% off so i guess better than a kick in the pants.

Hey sorry just saw this now. The rear focus one is what the USA navy trusted for years. I've also read that the rear focus is more robust in design, as people have had the side focus knob loosen over time. Guess the design on the rear is more rugged - apparently - and $100 cheaper. On the other hand people like the side focus for ergonomics for adjusting without moving your head to see the dial. That being said, parallax should be relied on focus, and not so much the numbers as they likely arent perfectly accurate. So pretty much what you'd be comfortable using. Having owned both (side focus is on a variable mag so no choice obviously in focus knob) I'd honestly prefer the rear as it keeps things clean on the scope, and again, was trusted by a military agency.
