Which TIMER/Chrony is better quality ?

Um we are talking chronys not timers.
The CED also has a place to hold a spare battery in the head unit. Although I use it to hold the main battery as I find they go dead in the CED if you leave it hooked up, same in other chronys I've used.

At the 2005 Ontario Provincials, I had two Chronys that wouldn't work right. I absolutely HATED Chrony for the trouble it gave us that week.
Since then, I've had CEDs & PACTs not work too. I now own a Chrony, a PACT, a CED and a Prochrono.

The only one that has never let me down is the Prochrono; but it is the newest.
My favorite feature in it is that the battery tray has a space to hold an extra battery for when you forget to bring a spare.

I have a light box made of plywood with two fishtank-style incandescents in it that works for the Pact, Prochrono and Chrony.
(I have the IR setup for the CED - it does take less space.) The light box cost about $30 at Home Depot to build.

I've asked the guy that makes the RU Ready timers why he never made a chrono (it seems like the natural progression.)
He said they're too much headache. Having seen enough of them be finicky, I believe him.

My advice: buy whichever has the features you like the most. Brand is pretty much irrelevant.

Yup, I'm finding good and bad reviews from all brands. So I guess they're all pretty much same... for balance of features/price, I'll with the Pact.. still deciding on the chrono/timer combo one or separate purpose set up...
anyone have exact dimensions for the Pact MKIV XP ? even their website doesnt show this...

it's way bigger than other timers. I'd say 3 x as big as r u ready timer

Well, finally decided on the Pact model with infrared...

and going with pact club III timer separate.

Hope to have timer this weekend, from local supplier, but the chrony, is ordered and has to come in and then shipped...it's good combined price as it comes with infrared, instead of regular one and then have to buy infrared access. separate.....

The MKIV comes with the chrony program built in now, I don't believe you can get just the timer any more.
I'll measure mine for you but it is big, 3"x6"x6" I think.....but I'll measure it.
For reference you can see TGO holding one early in this video

Just remember to use a rest. Freehanding it shortens the life of the chrony.

Actually, I was planning on using it freehand/weak handed, using my non-dominant eye...and what the heck, while trying to balance on a bowling ball...  :p
Pat, I can't see his chrony in video... my screen cut him off half way down view of the mags on his belt.. Or I just missed it.. but nice drill... I should take note and actually practice some time...

It's right near the beginning as he puts it on his belt. Otherwise google some of te "Jerry Shoots Fast" videos, he uses it quite a bit too.

2"x4.25"x5.25"

Timer and Chronograph have arrived :)

Finally got my shipment in for my time and chrony, both pact models.. I had concern about the size of timer, but never questioned the Pact 3, cause photos looked on small side...and is bigger than photo portrays. but good size screen and #'s.
I will not get out to range till new year, so will comment on their performance review after that.

ps.. didn't take that long to arrive, I just didn't put order thru till few other items were decided on...
