which to order as first 9mm, and which TT-33 combo for fun

Yes I know its not the best but its what I want a TT-33 as my first pistol. After this I will look into a 9mm which I have ammo for already as well. Then a .22lr as I can afford it.

So my budget for initial handgun entry is about $1000-1200. So two questions,

Looking at Trade-ex's site I can buy a
- Russian TT-33 and Yugo version for $399 (2 pistols)
- TT-33 and 1260rds for $459 (1 pistol +ammo)
- TT-33 for $199 (post war or ww2?). (1 pistol)
Which will serve me better? I already have one 2520 crate.


Then with remaining funds what 9mm pistol would I have the most fun out of? I am new to pistols entirely so Shadow 2 is a bit ridiculous to me even though there great i'm sure. I'd like something I can shoot for fun and maybe get into light competition for kicks with down the road. I'm not a guy who likes to start and buy pistols up the quality scale, would just like to get one in the caliber and work with it. Kits with all parts seem attractive. I have been looking at these below.

-CZ75 SP-01 shadow (bit pricey) $879
-GIRSAN REGARD 9MM BLUED WITH RAIL $579
-Ruger American Pistol 9mm Novak sight $679

-SMITH & WESSON MP9 PISTOL 9MM RANGE KIT $699
-Walther PPX Range Kit 9mm Handgun $499

I have thus far been a milsurp shooter with my only rifle under 70yrs old being a 10/22. Not interested in anything by Norinco unless they have produced a new wonder pistol that is on par with the competition for quality and longevity. No EE shot out pistols something new, no unloaded problems.

I like my regard. I threw a set of vz grips on it and they fit perfect. That being said I prefer my para ordance 1911 9mm over the regard they can be had for your price range as so don't count them out. I'm sure you'll see the shadows come down in price on the ee with all the shadow 2 hitting the market. One of the sponsor sites had new shadows for 799 on a black Friday sale.

....and look at weimajack on here he has a great selection of original russian tt33
i got one from him and love it for like 180
 
Glock 17 or 19. Simple simple simple, likely won't ever have to wait in line for a gunsmith, accurate, fun reliable hassle free. Super easy to take down and clean. Less moving parts=less hassles.
 
If at all possible get out and shoot or at least handle some of your different choices.
There's a big difference in the feel of a CZ compared to an MP9. All have a different balance, weight and fit in the hand.

With regards to the TT-33, get a post war Russian or a polish version. They seem to be the best in terms of condition, my post war TT is in near mint condition with a tiny bit of holster wear at the muzzle end.

Good advice guess less shooting occurred post war..... for Tt33

Glocks are all over 1k that I've seen, used to be cheaper not anymore. I don't really have the resources to do IPSC shooting as I'd need to burn thru more ammo than I can afford for practice. I have 2K in 9mm half brass half steel and that I was hoping would last me till next year.
 
x2 on the TT33 from Weimajack. I think he hand picks them from Tradex's inventory, and you get the actual pistol pictured. I wouldn't worry about getting any more ammo... 2500 rounds is almost a lifetime worth once you realize how terrible they are to shoot on a regular basis!!!!!!

I suggest you do a lot more research before picking a modern 9mm. A lot of it depends on your hands. Mine are fairly small, and I find Beretta, Girsan, Jericho, Sig and others are too big to get a great grip on. I can manage a Glock, but greatly prefer the PPQ and HK SFP over all others. The Canik is a nice Walther p99 clone, and my brother picked up a PPX range kit for a song and it is a great pistol too. Can't speak to the Ruger American as I've not seen one in person.

I'm 5ft10 with avg to large hands. So far I shot a 1911 and wasn't much for it. I liked the guns with the desert eagle shape and Glocks fired well. I love the look of the berreta but could not shoot it well when I tried one.
I looked and I agree I will contact wimijack about the tt33. Hoping my restricted card is in the mail or can at least get started since 8 c9nfirmed last night that the numbers are the same. Will have to see if wimijack is able to process the first transaction for the paperwork. I'm sure he can.

Either that or they got cleaned regularly after shooting corrosive ammo, mine has no frosting or putting in the barrel. It's crisp and mirror bright, fun little guns. My only gripe is the grip is really slim and I find myself needing thicker grips. I have med sized hands, can't imagine what it would be like to shoot with big hands. Found a nice kydex left hand holster for it on eBay and picked up a bunch of extra mags. Love the x25 cartridge, snappy and it shoots fireballs at night.




 
I agree try before you buy i started into pistols this year so far this is the gang

top left Beretta 92fs inox upgraded with full guide rod and short reach trigger and recoil spring and d spring ,close up
Stock waited and found for 800 , additional upgrades about 150 more still around the price of a stock beretta off the shelf would love some rosewood grips "real pricey"or the ton of custom grips from the states we can not get but for now it will stay as is ,so take your time the deals happen

top right Norinco 1911A1 got it for 400 with ten mags sold the mags off then upgraded to stainless mags x2 and 4 10 rounders, magwell , full rod , springs ,hogue grips
etc bit of a learning experience without breaking the bank learn as i go for about 450 now total and love it ,p.s also got a little engraving

bottom left a weimajack TT33 cleaned lubed added a hogue slide on to give them slim grips some grab and that's it ,simple and perfect as made like 190 all in

Bottom middle sig 1911 22 lr added a pearce finger insert and a performance upgrade kit full rod springs etc maybe 500 all in great fun cheap plinking and practice your pistol skills

Bottom right Norinco NP22 A sig 226 copy and really didnt need to do anything but clean it up sand the rough edges shoots awesome added you guessed it Hogue grips 375 brand new ,cheap laser already pitched back in the scrap bits box was just a thought


Do the research try whats around wait for the deals and enjoy safe shooting

I got a PPX range kit as my first handgun and it is nice and everything, however it will quickly leave you with the urge to get a nicer 9mm once you try out someone's CZ or glock at the range.

A while ago someone had the CZ SP-01 on sale for $799 which was a killer deal. Wishing I would have jumped on that instead.

i will try tenda on friday to get my hands on my narrowed picks. I agree no point buying cheap just to go back. I just want a nice blasting toy for the range that will work well stock. Got my actual card in the mail this afternoon. Will probably go CZ but want to hold some stuff first.
also ordered a tt33 from weimijack per numerous recommendations. Re the narrow tt33 grip i always thought it was made to be fired one handed by brave officers and at fleeing troops by the commisar, with two hands an option.

Berretta fs. is by far the ###iest gun I couldnt hit much with the one i used which has me less interested.
 
I have a TT-33 and my wife has a PPX range kit. Great combo, we switch back and forth quite a bit. I like the snap of the X25 rounds and the precision of the PPX make for quite a stark difference. Shoot the Tok single handed and the grips don't feel too weird.
 
Ordered a CZ shadow 1 from gotenda and the tt-33 fr9m wimijack. Thanks to the experienced shooter I met at tenda who pushed me over the edge to the shadow and steered me off the.22lr pistol for now. Should have my tokarev to take to the range next Saturday

Love me NP22. No regrets at all. I've shot about 1k and have had zero issues. If I ever did, it makes me feel good that I can put Sig parts in there to fix it.
