which TT 33 ?

They are powerful and fit great in my hand. The new tt33 Russian imports mostly have that hideous import marking on them, it won't hurt the operation of the pistol, just looks aweful!

The Zastava uses a proprietary firing-pin system, completely different from the rest of the TT's. None of the shops that sell the Zastava pistols seem to carry any parts for it. This could be a problem for future maintenance that your Zastava might need. Ask me how I know!

Thanks for that info. Did not know that.

Well guys thanks for all the info. I really appreciate what a great group cgn is and the wealth of knowledge you are all willing to share.

I have considered what to get and have come to the conclusion that with the difficulty of getting parts for the m70a i will go with a tt33 with at least 2 or 3 mags.

Either Russian or Polish will do. Now i just have to find a deal on a nice one that won't break the bank.

If anyone knows of a great deal out there feel free to pm me as unfortunately i live where there are no dealers locally so i am forced to buy sight unseen on the web.

Buying a milsurp is a little different than buying a new firearm where you know what your getting.

If you guys have a local store and have seen these and what kind of shape they are in and can recommend them it would be appreciated.

I will also keep my eyes on the ee.

P&s militaria has the Polish as I said before, for $265. Sfrc has them for $499.???. Thes are as new never used but sat in crates for 50-60 ish years so may have slight scratches, most Russian tt33 are refurb, you can usually get mags at corwin arms for a good price, weimejack has tt33 too and Polish tt33 occasionally! If you want to shoot non corrosive, the Chinese stuff is ok and about $14-$15 a box of 50!

I had a new manufactured Norinco one that i personally shot quite a bit and traded for a Russian surplus which i am currently shooting quite a bit. No difference in quality or accuracy.

I have a Type 54 {Norinco} with the wrap around grip= love the feel of this grip & the pistol functions flawless. May get a 9mm barrel as well. I'd like a Russian & Polish too, why not, but this Chinese one is Great with a surprisingly nice trigger for what it is

Okay all you Russian TT33 owners. Care to do me a favour? Can you get the firing pin to engage a round when the pistol is even out of battery 1/4”? It is my understanding that the Tok was purposefully designed to prevent out-of-battery ignition, and took it as a “truth”, but I want to be sure I’m right.

Of course, this is related to the Gerald Stanley acquittal, and my efforts to educate the ignorant.
