Which will kill deer better?

Is it a barnes bullet or a nosler ballistic tip? Is the bottom cartridge a 35 Whalen or a 8x57 Mauser? Regardless, I've voted for the 25-06 (top one) for deer.....flater shooting for longer distance targets and more accurate cartridge.

How often do you get to shoot these pests? This sounds like fun, lots of fun.

Other than livestock I've killed 2 boars, with a crossbow. It was fun...lots of fun.:)

Depends, some years none at all. This year we have already taken a huge dry sow over 200lbs and had quite a few chances at small ones but let them go because deer hunting was more important. They get shot at all the time so some of the dumb ones may already be dead. The wolves also kill a lot of them and can wipe them out faster than anything.

Define "better" ... jsut as dead? dead faster? less meat/hide damage? how 100 yards or 800 yards or anywhere within the specific gun's acceptable range?

Both rounds will kill a deer just as effectively at 100 yards.

My personal preference though ... I'd go with the bottom one (35 Whelen I think).

It all depends of which degree of killed you prefer, but really killed is killed and dead is dead...so if you want it deader than dead I would have to say the bigger the bore the deader than dead...is any of this making any sense at all...now I'm totally confused!!
What was the question again??
cheers

it's an 80 grain TTSX in a 25-06 vs a 200gr Hornady SP in a Whelen

In reality gentlemen, neither will kill a deer. I think possibly some more gear might be needed ie a platform from which to fire and most important of all is a hunter to bring it all together in the same place at the same time as the deer.

Remember gentlemen, HUNTERS kill deer, wolves with their teeth, some of us with pointy sticks and others with firearms and bullets.

Point of it all, whatever you use keep hunting and get your kids out too!!!!
