I have some M855 ball 5.56 ammo (about 10 years old) I have handled to put on stripper clips and put away dry into an ammo can.
I also have some M193 Ball 223 ammo sold by UMC as their freedom bucket which is not handled and packaged loose in the buckets with a desiccant pack.

I realize the M855 would be the better performing ammo but given the method of packaging of the 223 I am at odds which is the best put away ammo.

Which one would you choose as your stash ammo?

Thanks
Moe

What is your timeline for your stash? I have lots of paper hulled shotgun ammo, stuff shoots great and is 50 years old. Centerfire rifle ammo, got some 80+ year old stuff that goes bang every time. I pull it out, show it off, play around with it then put it back with no dehumidifiers and have no issues at all.

If you are looking at 100+ years then worry, 10-20 years you will never notice, unless you leave it rot in a puddle.

Ive used plenty of ammo thats probably fifty years old, and its always worked. Thats just storing it normally with no special procedure. Keep it dry, and you should have no problems.
