Ed Brown: top quality & top dollar.
Springfield: decent bang for the buck.

All the presented choices are good 1911 products, and in the top half of the price bracket. Have you considered Para Ordanance, I like the Paras because the feed ramp is an integral part of the barrel and goes a long way to increase feed reliability.

You left out, none of the above. Find a Series 70 Colt Government, change the sights and do a trigger job, if required, and forget the over priced copies.

At the risk of being a total heretic - get a Norinco, ship it to a good pistolsmith and have it made exactly the way you want it - trigger, sear, hammer, fitted barrel, fitted bushing, hand cut checkering, exactly the right sights - if you're not buying it for the name (or the bling) why not get exactly what you want.

You get all of that with a Les Baer...plus a hard-fit frame and slide!
