which would you pick and why?

assuming equal condition, DWM argentine 1909 or oberndorf brazilian 1935?

Mauser

If had to choose...1935 Brazilian. Why ? Love 7X57 although 7.65X53 is an excellent cartridge. Alsi dig that Mauser banner logo on the rear action.
I have an un-issued 1935 Brazilian with all accessories in my collection and have had a couple Argy's. Plan to get another Argy if I can find an un-issued example, but they are getting hard to find, where as 1935's can still be had although pricey.

If unissued, I would prefer the Argie, but only b/c I already have an unissued 1908 Brazillian that's almost identical to the 1935. The 35 is a nice gun, no doubt, with a cool logo, but the unissued Argentines are a sight to behold, complete with white receiver and pre-war (ww1) fit and finish, flame blued parts, strawed springs, etc.

Honestly though, I wouldn't buy either as a "shooter". Lots of issued guns around for that.

I have to agree with Claven2. Unissued Argentine 1909s, especially with crests intact are very hard come by. I've been looking for one for 30 years. I haven't even been able to find one in VG-Exc condition that was fully intact.

Go for the Argentine if it's complete, with its original trigger gaurd/floorplate assembly(many were stripped for use on custom rifles as the surplus Argentine was cheaper than a new custom system) and hopefully still bearing its crest. It would be unusual but very nice if it also retained its original bayonet/frog, muzzle cap, cleaning rod and sling. We can all dream I guess.
If it's going to be a shooter, as long as it's complete with a decent bore, either would be fine. The 7x57 ammo is easier to come by than the 7.65x53.
