There are many ways to break down the rifles used during ww2 by the various nations, so I will keep the poll to three basic rifles per nation if possible. please pick the two you like the best.

Sorry brothers and sisters , this was to be a 10 opition poll, but the pc hic uped, and I did not get the poll done, I will try latter to do it all again, but may break it down by nation, than take the best and do a poll of the best, those with the most votes.

I am lucky enough to own most of them and have shot most of what I own. (Have not shot my Carcano...)

Garand has nice trigger and excellent sights.

Enfield has excellent sights, totally reliable and stock fits well when shot standing or sitting.

If i had to fight, though, I think i would prefer my Bren. Very accurate.

Sorry guys as I was doing the poll, the pc hic uped and I did not get to finish the poll so one could vote, I will try a poll later on the same subject but do one on each nation.

for me it would be the jungle carbine and the M44

I think you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who didn't favour the Bren in that scenario.....;)

My two choices...

M1 Garand

M1 Garand

[Is there an echo in here.... :p ?]

NAA.

Firepower, reliability and accuracy count in the infantry rifle. The Garand was the best far and away. Everything else was warmed over WW1 vintage stuff,so there really is'nt any contest.

The Brits/Cdns used the BREN as the base of fire in the rifle squad while the Germans used the MG34/42. Both were superior to the US BAR in the same way that the Garand trumped the Lee-Enfield and M98 Mauser. The ideal combo would have been the Garand and a BREN in .30-06.

I'm leaning towards one of the Swedish Mausers or the Swiss straight pulls.

I'm partial to the MP.44 but that would mean you're on the loosing side (and post 1943 things were starting to get grim). SVT-40s are nice rifles too, plus the Russians won, but at a hugh cost in lives. That leaves the M1 Garand or No 4 Mk1 but again you're still sitting there getting lead and other nasty material thrown at you...

So guarding beautiful Swedish women from German and Russian invaders with a m96 or AG42 seems pretty darn appealing to me!
