Whistler Biathalon range

Stopped by the Biathlon range on our way home from a week in Whistler. They were letting folks try the rifles out...cool set up, hopefully it stays a range after the 2010 games.

It seems to be set up for only one type of use. Pretty short distance too. Lacking support for any other type of shooting as well as side berms to contain ricochets I don't see this being a usable option for a regular range. In the one picture I see that the control or support hut is AHEAD of the firing line. How the hell did THAT get approved? Obviously the CFO office didn't get a hand in the design or approval!

They probably thought biathlon was tree hugging and bottle recycling. No way a gun range is slated to stay. Guns are evil.
