One of my shotguns has a returning problem of white salt like deposit right on top of the barrel. A friend just showed me his pump yesterday and has the same reacurring problem. Anyone have this happen and know how to get rid of it? I scrubbed the spot with a bronze brush and oil/solvent. It is a very small spot. Thanks.

Quit doing coke lines of the top of your barrel and it will go away.

Ha a friend just PM`d me that exact same response. The guns are in a safe with a rust inhibitor in the safe. It is only on one shotgun out of 8, and there are other rifles and handguns in there that are unaffected.
Run hot water from the tap over the area while scrubbing with an old toothbrush.
Do it long enough for the metal to get hot. Try to avoid allowing water to get into the ejection mechanism or other small spaces.
Dry the metal with a dry cloth while still warm then apply fine oil.
Easy to do and worth a try. Let us know if that works.
