I would like to tap into the vast wealth of knowledge of all the CGN'ers if I could.

I am looking at getting a set of LPA adjustable sights for my M&P 9. I have never owned, or even fired a gun that had fiber optic sights so I'm not sure which way I want to go.

It will be used for shooting paper, both indoor and outdoor. Mostly outdoor though. What is the good and the bad as far as fiber optic sights go? Which would you choose and why?

I have red fibre on my sig and it lights up like a light bulb because they draw in so much ambient light. Downside is that they are are useless in the dark; no luminescence - at least the ones I have. Prior to the fibre, I had the traditional 3 white dots and they work just as well but my old eyes made it difficult to focus on the front post because it blended in with the rear sights. True you could just black out the rear sights but I like having some form of reference.

for fast shooting the fiber optic is wonderful, fast to aquire and easy to use. For precision shooting, nothing beats a plain black partridge. But unless your trying to work on bullseye skills, the fiber optic will probably be what you will find easiest to use. Don't bother with the white dot. It's what we used before we had fiber optics.

Will never buy another gun unless it has adjustable on rear and F/O on front, once you start using that combo there is no other. If shooting for accuracy a small FO is best 1.0 mm, If shooting "Center Mass" go 1.5.

Big fan of f/o front sight.....don't shoot much in the dark so night sights aren't a worry.....lol....like an adjustable rear, but still love the plain black....find the f/o front so quickly with his set up..

This, exactly.

I omitted the white dot part because I happen to like a plain old white dot (on everything except my Glocks, I can't stand the cup and ball).
