On most of shows about alaska people are wearing these white boots look like plastic and tie up with laces anybody know what brand these are.

Yup they are military boots alright Westward1. I wore them while on maneuvers at camp borden when it was like -24F with windchill at -39F. They work great kept my toes and feet toasty warm while tent camping outside for a week. I noticed that the only things that did get cold was my rifle and ammo.

Anyone here ever wonder why all the white boots they market for hunters always come with a black soles?
I have black Sorel Glaciers and I either bury my feet in snow or I have a with piece of fabric I cover them with if there is no snow available

Canadian army surplus mukluks are the best. I've worn them below -40. Good for walking all day in. The arctic socks in them are removable for drying or replacement. Also compatible with snowshoes.

Another vote for mukluks. Perfect balance between warm and still being able to walk.

Some one else here also suggested neos. Another fantastic product. one of the best purchases I ever made in army

Bunny boots... If you're in a cold environment don't listen to these guys recommending the sorels. Great boots, but as soon as you sweat and get that insulation wet your feet get cold, or at least that's my experience. The insulation in the bunny boots is confined inside 2 layers of rubber, so as long as you don't puncture that seal the insulation will never be compromise by moisture. Since the interior layer is a mostly rubber like compound if your feet do get wet, they act as a bit of a wet suit where your body temp stays sort of trapped inside the boot.

I've had many occasions of stepping in overflow and getting a soaker with them on. Your foot is cold for a few minutes, but just dump the water out and your foot will be comfortable again in a few minutes.

With that said, they're heavy, big and clunky and not great on ice, but as long as I can find them they're what I'll be wearing in the deep cold.

Yep. The first time that I hunted in northeastern Quebec, I had Sorels. My feet quickly started to freeze so I had a never-worn pair of white bunny-boots as back-up. Instant relief. Not perfect, heavy but warm.

working in northern Alberta each winter pipelining I find its more about having good socks I get my winter boots at Walmart but put my money into really good sock
