whitetail behavior

the other evening i was wandering around and saw a whitetail doe being pursued by 5! bucks. is there going to be a little fawn around here come christmas/new years? or was this some other aspect of deer behaviour?

I doubt it, but you never can tell!
if her estrogen level was all screwed up, and she was in esterous, MAYBE, but there are so many variables there I would not want to even guess.
I know a lot about white tails, and have studied them most of my life, but have never encountered 5 chasing a doe at this time of year.

All young bucks? They can display some pretty stupid behaviour at the best of times, same as a teenager!!

Deer mate sometimes in the late spring and summer. Usually doesn't amount to a fawn tho. I posted similar sightings last year. They do that.

I've seen a doe in the field with 9 bucks. That was mid summer though...

Wow! What the heck was that!!

That pic is an old one and depicts the level of hormones that these animals endure and the lenghts they go to to satisfy them.

Plus it's funny as hell!!
