My shot. Recorded by one of my hunting buddies. They just had to see it. Full house load using a 400 grain swift A-frame. Range is around 65 feet. I hit the deer in the ribs and the bullet went straight through. Unfortunately the backstraps were a write off. On the positive side that was the only meat damage.

Edit: The shot took so long because I was waiting for the two of them to line up. Then took the smaller one when they weren't going to.

What rifle & optic?

And congrats, enjoy the venison!

Cheers

CZ 550 Magnum with Leupold VX-III, I bought the setup from another member here. The deer is the perfect size for me and my pup to enjoy!

Cool rifle. I used to hunt with my 375 but tired of pumping iron so switched back to a lighter rifle. :)

Unfortunately the backstraps were a write off.
I would venture a guess that if the backstraps were ruined that there was probably a disruption of the CNS on the spine, thus the bang-flop. Any rifle would probably have produced the same results.

A lower shot through the ribs may have had much different results, esp with such a stout bullet on a small deer.

Is bragging about garbage shot placement a thing now? Seems to be that when you do that bad a job of shooting something you should keep your trap shut about it. Unless, of course, the goal is just to kill something. In that case, bravo...you're amazing.

So you made a very bad shot and are here to boast about it? The choice of cartridge was irrelevant to the result which would have been achieved with almost any legal round shot to the same unfotunate point of impact.

I enjoy these videos, even the ones that aren't the perfect 323 yd deliberate head shots many here routinely make.

You should have braked it and cut the barrel to 12"...the muzzle flash would be more awesomeness...:)

It is likely that the cartridge of choice contributed to the point of impact... "line up, close eyes, grimace, squeeze..."
