Over the long weekend a grandson got a buck with a rifle. This weekend he went back with a tag for the general season whitetail does, taking his bow, only.
He got a big dry doe, one shot with his arrow.
Sorry, just had to brag a bit.

Bruce, you have a right to feel proud! You have always tried to mentor your offspring properly, and it sounds like the legacy is moving down the line another generation. Congratulate the young man for me. Eagleye.

Thanks, I will. As a bonus he just loves good deer meat and looks after it properly.
Here he is six years ago at age 16 with his first deer, and my 270 Sako. he hasn't missed a year since, of getting either one or two deer. The one he just got was his first doe. Obviously, the deer in the picture is a muley.

Nice news. Always happy to see success. My wife having gotten a buck on Thurs and me a doe on Sat (thanksgiving weekend), I know that ther eis still a bit of work involved. It is the entire package that thrills me. Doing the whole thing from scouting, setting up stands, lining up and completing the shot, tracking the game, gutting, and even the dragging out (although at the time a 700yd drag sucks). And I enjoy the butchering, jerky and sausage making as well as taking meat out of the freezer when I want. On Monday I took the tenderloins and put them in my smoker for 2hrs @ 250 degrees, They were fantastic with some crown royal smoke!!
