Would you guy's hunt where you are seeing a lot of buck sign, rubs and scraps or where you are seeing lot's of does ? It's bucks only.

If you have a pile of buck sign you may set up and wait. He may show up but it is a crap shoot. This time of year they are looking for does in heat. If you do find a scrape with fresh urine and tracks leading away one behaviour is that does in heat will pee at the scrape site then walk through their own urine and walk away leaving a scent trail for the buck to follow.

If you find this and it is fresh careful still hunting as you follow the does tracks can pay off. You don t find that often but it is a great opportunity. Other than that as was said hang around the does and Mr. Dummy might just stroll out. Males of any species have two brains but only enough blood to make one of them function. You know which one it is this time of year.

Good luck

Look for a bottleneck between the two areas... it will likely concentrate buck movement. I am sitting in a treestand overlooking a bottleneck as I write this... I just got set-up, going to start rattling in a few minutes.

Would have to know the area: right now I spent six days patrolling an area for does and only seen antlers for the first five and a half. There are scrapes, beds, rubs and signs of the bucks, along with physical sighting, of them everywhere. The only signs of does before today were tracks.

It seems to depend on the area as here in Alberta the Mule Deer Bucks are not really chasing does.... at least where I am at.

We got about 4" of really wet, crappy snow and now it's raining. I was in the stand at 5:00 and nothing was moving at all. I went for a real quite hike and no tracks or sign anywhere.
