Whitworth .375H&H With Leupold 1-4x20

Personally, I've never had difficulty with the friction adjustments. In the end, it's not like you're dialing come-ups on this rifle. Set it and forget it. That said, you could always shop the EE for a used VX3 1.5-5x which can often be had for very reasonable prices.

I just re-sighted my .303 Epps at 200 yd. with an older fixed 6x Leopold. I found the MOA friction adjustments to be spot on.

My Winchester Alaskan has a 25" barrel. Its way too long. 23 would be sweet a smith said he could do it for under a couple hundred. How much speed would I loose?

Many years ago we bought two Interarms Mark X 375 H&H for backup rifles. One was for me and one for the head game warden up here. They came with 24" barrels and iron sights. We shot and chronographed five shots from each rifle. Then, we cut and crowned the barrels at 20 inches, and shot five rounds from each again. All the ammo was from the same box of twenty, 300 gr Winchester Silvertip factory ammo. Hmmm, I still have a box of that stuff.

Both rifles lost much less velocity than either of us expected, about 60 fps. The increase in muzzle blast, however, was significant.

With the front sight reinstalled the rifles were quite handy, especially in the puckerbrush, and we both carried them for years.
