Who’s excited for sept!

I know I am haha! Hare opened up aug 1st and I’ve been out having a go at finding some, I’ve been doing some scouting for the fall in some areas I’ve wanted to check out last year but didn’t get the chance. I’m getting excited for sept, have been seeing lots of grouse and a fair bit of deer activity. Things are not as dry as last year, pretty green and lush in the bush.

Here’s a couple pics from last week, the wild raspberries were so ripe.

Nice pics ButcherBill.
Yup getting very excited here as well. Did some scouting on the weekend but got turned around at some washouts from where I wanted to get to so devising a new plan of attack.

...they know you're there :)

Nice opening pics!
Haha, the radar dish ears always crack me up.

Can’t wait for the 10th, I’m away for a family visit and get back just before season opening. It’s going to be a fun fall, all the grouse I’ve seen have been pretty big. I think I might be more excited about grouse hunting than anything else haha.

With a new baby in the house im not going on my usual backpack bear hunt for a week so im looking forward to the early goose season and waterfowl until deer season opens. Going to get some muskie fishing in from my kayak first

Pretty excited..moose draw 15 minutes from home. Unfortunately, most of the area I’ve scouted is now covered in ash/fire retardant. Plan B, I guess....

Lucky you, I have to be away for opening week but get back that first weekend, and then it's game on. Glad to hear the grouse have been good out that way, hoping to get out there for some chickens.

We had a cold wet spring and I hadn’t seen many lately, I’m happy to see they are big and plump lol. Now if I can only find some rabbits, all I’ve seen so far was a monster hare a week before they opened back up and a tiny cute bunny I almost stepped on after they opened.

Yeah that’s unfortunate, there’s one ripping in an area I’d like to hunt in. We’ll see if they get it under control before it does too much damage, would like to look for elk out that way in early October.

I'm really hoping this new smoke that rolled in isn't going to hurt chances like last year. 2 years ago I could count almost 30+ does a day. Last year I was lucky to see 5...... one week I saw more moose than deer?

Always excited for September... spot and stalk blackies in the berries, annual grouse/walleye safari, bowseason moose... the best of times.

For the last couple of years I have been using my drone with it’s very good camera to scout new areas, It has saved me countless kilometres just knowing what is over the next ridge, is it heavily logged or treed, a steep bank or an open meadow.Great tool, I seam to can live without.

Yes yes, I hear that. Was just talking with two good friends and made some early sept plans to get out, going to try and get one his first deer. He got a quick taste at th end of last season and he’s all excited like I am!

It is also illegal in many areas...

As hoytcanon mentioned drones are a no go with regards to hunting, I gotta say too that the scouting is half the fun of hunting. Being out in the bush exploring new areas is one of the things I enjoy the most.

September first I will be out looking for an Elk.
Once he's in the freezer, anything else is simply gravy [pun intended] :)

First real season for Lucy (Gordon Setter) my new grouse partner. Last year was a bust for a variety of reasons but this year is lining up to be excellent. Lucy worked a bird for me today on our morning run, that got the blood flowing. This fire may put a wrinkle in things as it is one of my areas, time will tell. Nice photos.
