Received my .223 in S.S. on wednesday afternoon. calgary WSS shipped it out on monday at 11:15am. They neatly packed my RCBS reloading dies inside and shipped it can. post. For the most part, it went quite well being this was my first experience with mail order WSS.
Can't wait to get to the range! :dancingbanana:

Picked mine up 2 days again. They shipped on Tues and it was at my door the following Weds. Well packed. Good experience for first time.

Gun seems ok, first time I have actually held the Axis. Trigger seems decent. Just got to get out and shoot it.

Ordered my Axis in .223 right before New Year’s Eve and I received the note in the mail to pick it up from the Post Office Friday. Went and picked it up on Saturday and took it all apart and cleaned it. Went today to the local range and went through 30 rounds of Winchester White box. The best group I got at 100 yards was just under ½” and that was before I put the first box through it. It feels and looks like an inexpensive firearm, the scope is not that good, but for $301.01 I am happy. I have spent more on firearms that looked nicer but did not shoot as well when I started with factory ammunition. This should make a good firearm for coyotes and wolves that I won’t mind if it gets banged up.

Good honest review..... it is what it is ... a cheap rifle that will get you hunting and perform well..... not built to last forever.... but will serve it's intended purpose....

Got the same gun and picked up the same ammo. Hopefully mine does as well. Did you remount the scope, tighten the scope rings? How good was the bore sighting job from factory?

Hey archie, me and my buddy both got the same gun he got a 22-250 and I went with 223 in camo, his bore sighting was almost right on with very little adjustment.. Mine on the other hand was not even on paper for the first 5 shots.

The scope screws were not tightened the same amount each side. I know most are thinking big deal, but one side I really had to look as it was almost bottomed and the other side had a huge gap. The front and back were almost identically tightened up this way with one you were able to see a small gap easily, the other not so easy. So I loosened off the tight side, then tightened the loose, side to even it up before torqueing them. The screws did not feel like they were torqued that tight to begin with. So I would say get a torque wrench and plan to at least check the screws are tight.
I don’t know if this affected the bore sighting to begin with but it was not too bad. From 25 yards it was 3” low and 2” to the right, but at least it was on the paper and adjusted right up easily.

what ammo do you guys find that works good in the .270/ I was shooting remington core-lokt 150 gr soft point and 130 gr core-lokt and was getting about 1.5-2 in groups at 100 yards.

I have a Stevens 200 and it really likes Winchester grey box cheapies from Wal-Mart. Sorry can't think of name of bullet. 1inch groups at 100yds. For what it's worth.

Bought an axis youth model in 7mm08 for my daughter, Turns out LOP is the same as adult version, just a shorter barrel. Looks like I got a new rifle. Shoots great, especially at $249.99 Only drawback with 7mm08 is ammo is a bit pricey. Learning to reload with a friend soon.

When I got my Axis in 223 about a week ago I took it out of the box and handled it a bit. I then put it back in the box and put it away. I will decide in a couple of weeks when it warms up if I'm going to shoot it or try and sell it and get my money back. It did not turn me on and it just feels like the cheap firearm that it is. I don't care how well it may shoot I'm still thinking I won't keep it around.

if you switch the bases out for the proper ones you will get a bit of extra clearance

I finally got my Axis 223 on the target. It was way off from factory. I had to put a full 4x8 sheet of plywood behind the target so I could see where I was shooting. Here is my 5 shot group from 50 yards.
