I just noticed that somebody purchased the Garand M-1 C Sniper from John's Gun Vault. Curious to know if he's a member of this forum. Nice buy you lucky bastard!!
I don't think there are many M1C rifles in Canada. After many yrs of looking I found one locally. It has been authenticated by The Garand Collectors Assn.
I wonder if the M1C you are describing came with the mount and scope and ,if so, I'd like to know what scope it had.
Just checked the website and see that it is actually an M1D, not an M1C. It does appear to have the M82 scope which was fitted to the M1C. Most M1Ds had the M84 scope. It is shown as made by Winchester. M1Cs were only made by Springfield within specific s/n ranges. M1Ds were conversions of any existing Garand, mostly Springfield, but could also be WRA, and less commonly, HRA and IHC. M1Ds are easy to fake, but for their barrel which has a unique drawing number. Faking an M1C is a much tougher proposition.
