who bought THIS!? (K43)

the answer to who bought it lies somewhere in the recent posts in the milsurp forum ;)

definately a steal, so much of a steal that I couldnt possibly have ever stood a chance at getting to it on time as usual :(

No, I never passed on it. I asked about markings and condition, then I told him it was sold. Its an 'AC' marked rifle. I'll post pics when it arrives this week. I thought I'd get luckey sooner or later! Mark K

Yep, nice snag. As I recall, the buyer actually passed at first then went back and go it???

Wonder if it's post-war marked?
I can't tell for sure, but in the picture, the stock looks to be laquered.
If so, 9 chances out of ten, it's probably a VOPO re-arsenal.

It's a 43' dated rifle with a 4 digit sn with no alpha. I imagine its from the early part of the production. Theres Siamese Mauser at The Shootist that has a similar look to the finish (and the same sling), so I'm hoping it's not been factory re-built.

Is there any electropenciled serials on the rifle? (ie mag, bolt carrier, etc)

East German VoPo reworks tend to have some electropenciled serial parts on them.

VOPOs also have a sunburst and a "X" stamped on the reciever.

Not always... and the sunburst is often just on the wood, if present at all.

Opps, I stand corrected.
Although, mine and the only 2 other VOPOs I have seen had the markings stamped into the front of the receiver.

Yeah Orvis, mine has the sunburst and X on the reciever as well.

K43 update

I finally got the rifle yesterday. It's not what the seller said it was. It's a
AC45 'd' block. It has the 'sunburst' after the sn and electro pencil on the gas assembly and the action cover. It may be a forced match because the script is different on the actions sn vs. the floorplate and bolt carrier. The bore looks like new and the metal has a nice 'plum' colour. The stock is good with no cracks and has a bad coat of varnish. I'll post pics as soon as I get it cleaned up.
