Not sure why people in this thread aren't getting it.... Button rifled barrels - like savage - must be drilled, reamed, and rifled before profiling and or fluting. The best builders will often stress relief and lap afterwards. Do you honestly think that if they could drill, ream, and rifle afterwards they wouldn't? You think fluting afterwards will give you a inconsistent bore? Try pulling or pushing a button thru a tapered, fluted blank.... Let me know how that works out for you. For the last time, button rifled barrels can not be profiled or fluted before the bore is drilled, reamed and rifled.
