I sent a Winchester bolt to the U.S. to have the firing pin hole bushed to get rid of some fire cutting on the bolt face. The bolt face looks fine but now I have about 20% FTF.

Have done all the diagnostics I can think of. Now I need some to just re-do the job. Yes, the rifle worked perfectly before it was "fixed".

Help.

Been away for a few days. Thanks, Paul. I took it to a machinist before I saw these replies so hopefully that works out. If not I will contact Paul. It’s nice to hear about him in any event.

That's what I thought at first. I scrubbed and polished everything before posting this. My guess?....the new firing pin hole is canted or the tip of the firing pin in bowed. Slides fine by hand but not in battery. We'll see..

Dry fire it for 30 minutes... it should burnish itself so it's not such a tight fit ... or spin the firing pin in a lathe and work the tip with 400 grit wet/dry paper...
