Hey all,

I'm wanting to purchase a non-restricted 858 but I find it looks super goofy with the long pencil barrel and would rather the suppressed look. Does anyone know who can do something like this?

Thanks!

You can if you can get a hold of a faux suppressor.

All you need to do is bang the roll pins out of the front sight and slide it off.

Slide on new faux suppressor and your done

That was an airsoft "can". It came with two different caps with the correct threads to mate with the factory 858 threads. I reamed out the one end and slid it over the barrel. The foam inserts within the can cushioned the barrel, and I ended up using some green temp specific loktite to secure the can to the threads.

It's around here some where. If it surfaces I'll send you the specifics.

OK I'll be the guinea pig. I ordered the one from Reliable Gun. When it comes I'll post details and pics of the install.

lol guinea pig. I wondered why it's no longer available on the site? Looks like you got the last one?
I'll stay posted for pics, I think I'll try and make one myself...

Well, when I log in it says "Order Status: Complete" My credit card hasn't been charged yet, but I only put the order in on the 9th, so it may not be posted on my account yet. I haven't received an e-mail confirmation yet, but I'm assuming it's en route or will be soon. Once it arrives I'll post pics while I do the install.

Ok. So, it arrived. I took my front sight off. It's not too hard. You unscrew the bayonet lug (for lack of a better description, sorry if I'm not using correct terminology) by pressing a button in on the front sight and then unscrewing. There's three pins - two on the side that need to be removed and one in the bottom. I have no idea how to get the bottom one out - it popped out when I tapped the front sight off with a mallet. Gently take the front sight off over the threads at the end of the barrel. Fake suppressor just slides right on, and then screws in - the end of it is threaded on the inside. Once it's threaded as tight as possible, there's a torx set screw at the muzzle end that needs to be tightened. That's it. 5 minutes.

My impressions - my first purchase with Reliable Gun. Easy to navigate website and on-line ordering system. I did not have any communication with them. Transaction was easy (I registered on the site). You could log in to track your order status. I never received any confirmation emails from them during the process, as you do from, say Marstar, for example (ie that says your order is received, your order is processed, your order is shipped, etc). You can check it online. When I used the Canpar tracking number provided, and went to the website to track my package, it didn't work. Could be a Canpar thing. Packaging was good. The suppressor was securely wrapped first in cardboard, then bubble wrapped, then taped, and came in a shipping envelope. Fast. Ordered from Vancouver on Monday, arrived on Friday. Shipping was cheap - around $20 Would I order from Reliable Gun again? Absolutely.

Product quality - I don't know of the construction. There's a rivet at either end, so I don't know if it's a milled tube, or a hollow pipe with end caps riveted on and a thicker cap with threads. It is very light, so it may very well be aluminum. I don't know if it's paint or powder coating. There was no product description in any detail on the website. In the future, I'll see how it holds up at the range. Would I recommend buying one for $200? No. If I had known how easy it would be to make one of these, I would do it with my buddy's lathe in his garage. In fact, he's coming down to my place from up north in the spring to take it and copy it. If it works, we will be turning them out much cheaper than $200 for anyone interested.

Appearance - my opinion, of course, but I think it looks way better than that dorky long non-restricted barrel sticking out the front. Much better. Would I recommend this mod? Yes. It adds no discernible weight to the front end. However, be prepared that this will not just be a $200 investment - the front sight comes off. Unless you plan to buy a drum and spray from the hip, you will have to spend the necessary funds to put a sight on it. I don't think this is a bad thing, because I believe the CZ-858 is worth spending money on.

That is if I owned one. Which I don't. because I sold it at some gun show some time ago that I forgot where and to who, and just used old pics from someone else on the internet.
